Telegram Join Requests: Check People Before They Get In

Use Telegram join requests with Doublegram Security: every request gets a check in private, then Security lets the person in by itself or the admins decide.

Open Doublegram Security

Telegram join requests let admins approve people before they get in. Doublegram Security adds a check to every request: the person verifies in private, before anyone in the group sees them, and whoever doesn't pass never gets in. Then Security lets them in by itself, or leaves the last word to the admins. It's free.

Turn on join requests in Telegram

Join requests are a Telegram setting, and Security can't change it:

  • Public group: group info → Edit → Group type, turn on Approve New Members.
  • Private group: group info → Edit → Invite Links, create a link with Request Admin Approval on, and share that link.

The menu names change a little between Telegram apps. Security notices the change by itself; its Join requests button can take up to 10 minutes to appear.

The three modes

Send /settings in the group → 🚪 Member entry → Join requests. The button shows only while verification is on.

  • Verify, then let them in (default): whoever passes is approved at once. Whoever fails never gets in, and nobody sees the attempt.
  • Verify, then admins decide: Security checks them, then the admins get a card with rules, quiz and answers, and the buttons to let them in or not.
  • Leave to admins: Security doesn't touch the requests, and admins approve by hand.

With Network Trust (Premium), people already verified in other groups are approved straight away in the first mode, when there are no rules, quiz or questions. See Network Trust.

What the person gets

Security writes to them in private: 🛡 You asked to join, the group's name, how many minutes they have, and Verify me. If the group has rules, a quiz or questions, the message lists them. When they pass, it changes to ✅ Verification passed with an Open the group button.

If the time runs out, the request is declined and they can ask again whenever they like: nobody is removed or banned. If Security can't write to them, the request stays with the admins. To choose where the welcome goes, see Welcome and join messages.

Open the check by itself: Process join requests

Telegram can open the verification page by itself the moment someone asks to join, with no message to look for. In Telegram, go to the group's Administrators, tap Doublegram Security and turn on Process join requests. Only one bot per group can have it.

The Join requests screen then says ✅ The verification opens by itself for anyone who asks to join, with no message to look for. After the check, the person taps the button to enter the group, or gets in on their own 20 seconds later; in a Premium group, straight away. If they close the page, they can ask to join again and it reopens. The first time, Telegram may ask them to accept its Terms of Use.

To approve requests, Security also needs the Invite users via link permission, next to Ban users.

Let the admins decide

With Verify, then admins decide, whoever passes reads 📨 Request sent, and the admins get a card: 📨 Wants to join, who it is, 📜 Rules accepted, and the quiz and written answers if there are any.

  • ✅ Let in approves and ❌ Decline refuses. The first admin who taps decides, and every copy of the card shows who did.
  • Only admins who can add members decide. The others read Who joins Hikers Club is decided by its admins who can add members.
  • The card arrives even without Premium, where the entry alerts go: by default in private, to the admins who have started the bot. If no copy can reach anyone, each admin sees it in the group, visible only to them.
  • The request waits until an admin decides. Approving it from Telegram's own list works too, without a new check.

Requests waiting for a decision also show up in 📋 Answers, with the same buttons. See Quiz and questions for new members.
