Telegram Moderation Commands: /ban, /mute, /warn and More
Security's moderation commands for Telegram groups: turn on /ban, /mute, /warn, /kick and the rest, choose who they hit, set durations, warnings and what stays in chat.
Open Doublegram SecurityDoublegram Security gives your admins 11 moderation commands for the Telegram group, from /ban, /mute and /warn to /kick, /info and /del. They start off: an admin turns them on in /settings → 🔨 Moderation, which is part of Doublegram Premium (see Security Premium for your group).
Turn the commands on
- In the group, send
/settingsand open 🔨 Moderation. - Tap 🔴 Commands.
/ban,/unban,/muteand/unmutecome on with it. - Turn on the others you want one by one, for example 🔴 /warn or 🔴 /del.
Another moderation bot in the group? Telegram sends each command to every bot, so two bots would punish twice. Read Using Security with Rose, Group Help or Combot first.
What each command does
| Command | What it does | Permission |
|---|---|---|
/ban · /unban | Bans · lifts a ban | Ban users |
/mute · /unmute | Stops them writing · lets them write again | Ban users |
/kick | Removes them; they can come back | Ban users |
/warn · /unwarn | Adds a warning · removes the last one | Ban users |
/info | Shows the person's card | Ban users |
/del | Deletes the message you reply to | Delete messages |
/admin · /unadmin | Promotes · takes admin rights back | Add new admins |
The admin who writes the command needs that permission in Telegram (the owner always can), and so does Security, except for /info. Others get 🚫 You do not have the right to do this in this group. More on /admin: How to make someone an admin.
Who the command hits
- Reply to one of the person's messages with the command. This always works.
- Or write their @username right after the command, like
/mute @alex 2h. It only works for someone who has already written in the group.
A numeric Telegram ID doesn't work. Admins and the owner are never hit: ⭐ That person is an admin here: commands don't reach them.
How long: durations
For /mute and /ban, write the time as the last word: 30m, 2h, 1d. A number alone counts as minutes, and 0 means forever. Without a time, /mute uses 🔇 Default mute (1 hour) and /ban lasts forever. You change them in 🔨 Moderation, the ban's length under 🚫 What /ban does, which also sets what the command does:
- ban and nothing else, the default;
- ban and delete their messages;
- ask every time: the command shows 🚫 Ban, 🗑 Ban and delete their messages and ❌ Cancel.
Warnings
A warning takes nothing away: it's counted. /warn adds one, with an optional reason after the person, and the group reads ⚠️ Alex warned (1/3). At 3 warnings the person is muted for 1 hour and the count starts again from zero. Warnings expire after 90 days, and /unwarn removes the last one.
Change it in 🔨 Moderation → ⚠️ Warnings: 3 → then mute, a row that shows once /warn or a filter uses warnings: how many it takes (2 to 10), then mute, then remove or then ban, how long the mute lasts, and when they expire (1 to 365 days, or never). Filters set to warn add to the same count: see How to stop spam.
/info and /del
/info, in reply to someone, shows their card: what they are now (muted, banned...), since when they're here, when they accepted the rules, their punishments and active warnings. Under it: 📜 History, plus 🔊 Unmute, ✅ Unban or ⚠️ Remove one warning when they apply.
/del, in reply to a message, deletes it and says nothing. Telegram lets a bot delete only messages from the last two days.
What the commands leave in the chat
In 🔨 Moderation → 💬 Command messages:
- Who sees the outcome: everyone, or only who gave it.
- They delete themselves, after 1 to 60 minutes. Off by default.
- Delete the command itself: on by default.
- Also delete the message you reply to (with
/mute,/ban,/kick,/warn). Off by default.
