Telegram Channel Comments: Turn Them On and Keep Them Clean

Comments on a Telegram channel live in a group linked to it, the discussion group. To turn channel comments on, open the channel's settings, go to Discussion and link a group. Then add Doublegram Security to that group: it keeps the comments clean like any other message there, and can post a first comment under every post.

Turn on comments

1. Open the channel and tap its name at the top.
2. Tap Edit, then Discussion.
3. Choose one of your groups, or create a new one.
4. Confirm. From then on, people can comment on the channel's posts.

The menu names change a little between Telegram apps. Every new post is copied into the group automatically, and the comments are replies to that copy: people read them under the post in the channel, and in the group.

Put Security in the discussion group

Security doesn't work inside the channel: nobody joins a channel to write, so there's no door to watch. It works in the discussion group. Add it there, make it an admin with Ban users, and have an admin sign in to Doublegram, which is free. Steps: How to add Security to a group.

From then on:

• Whoever joins the group verifies before writing.
• Comments are messages of the group: with Premium, Antispam, Banned words, Alphabets, Explicit images and Antiflood check them. See How to stop spam.
• Admins are never touched.

Security checks people when they join the group. Telegram can also let people comment without joining it. To have every commenter verified first, open the discussion group's info → Edit → Group Type and set Who can send messages? to Only Members.

An automatic first comment

Security can post a comment under every new post, for example to say that comments are moderated. It's part of Doublegram Premium: see Security Premium for your group.

1. In the discussion group, send /settings and open 💬 Message control → First comment on posts.
2. Turn on 🔴 Auto first comment.
3. To use your own text, tap ✏️ Change the text and send it in the group within 5 minutes. HTML works: <b>, <a href>.

The default text is 💬 Comments are moderated. Spam, insults and explicit content are removed automatically. ↩️ Back to the default text brings it back.

• The comment comes from Security, with its name and photo: Telegram doesn't let a bot post as the channel.
• One comment per post, only on new posts.
• If the comment can't be posted, admins get 🔔 First comment not posted. If your text has a broken HTML tag, it goes out as plain text with the tags showing, and admins get 🔔 First comment posted as plain text. See Admin alerts.

Channels in a community

A channel can join a Security community together with your groups: a ban given in one of the groups applies in the channel too. Mutes stay in the groups, since a channel has nothing to mute. See Community.
