Set a Credit Budget in Doublegram AI

Set a credit budget in Doublegram AI to cap what the AI spends in a day, a week or a month: where to find it, what it counts, and what happens when it's reached.

Open Doublegram AI

A credit budget caps how many credits Doublegram AI can use in a day, a week or a month. You set it in /settings in a few taps. When the budget is reached, the AI stops answering until the next period starts, unless you raise the budget or tell it to answer anyway.

Set the budget

  1. Send /settings, or tap ⚙️ Settings under /start.
  2. Tap 💰 Budget: none. The screen opens with 💳 Credit budget and A limit on how many credits the AI can use in a period., followed by what you've used so far in the period.
  3. Choose the period: day, week or month.
  4. Choose the amount: 10, 25, 50, 100, 1,000 or 10,000 credits. ✅ marks the current choice.

The Settings button then shows your budget, for example 💰 Budget: 100/week. To remove it, tap 🔴 No budget. There's no budget until you set one.

What it counts

  • Everything Doublegram AI spends: answers, images, stickers, extra posts and automation runs. Credits Scribe's AI uses in your groups don't count.
  • A week starts on Monday, a month on the 1st.
  • Before each answer, Doublegram AI looks at what's left of the budget. If it's less than the answer costs, 4 credits or 8 with the Max model, the budget is reached.
  • Inside an answer, an image, a drawn sticker or an extra post that doesn't fit in what's left is left out, and the AI says so. 🎲 Another version and the sticker redraws stop at the budget too.

/credits shows the budget next to the balance, for example Balance: 164 · this week you've used 36 of your 100-credit budget.

When the budget is reached

Instead of the answer you get, for example, ⏱ You've reached your budget for this week (100 credits). It resets on Monday, or raise it in the settings. A daily budget resets tomorrow, a monthly one next month. Under it there are two buttons:

  • Raise the budget opens the budget screen, to pick a higher amount or remove the budget.
  • Answer anyway answers that question outside the budget. The next question checks the budget again. The button works for an hour; after that it says This question has expired: type your answer instead., so send your question again.

What the budget doesn't stop

  • Automations: they keep running as scheduled, as long as your balance has credits. What they spend still counts toward the budget, so a busy automation can use up the budget meant for your chat answers. To spend less on them, pause them or make them run less often: see Manage your automations.
  • What's free: publishing and scheduling posts, your own posts, the menus and turning voice messages into text use no credits, budget or not.
  • Budget and balance are two different things. The budget limits what the AI spends in a period; the balance is what you have. When the balance runs out, the AI stops answering whatever the budget says. See How AI credits work.

The other settings are in Doublegram AI settings.
