Scribe Privacy: What It Saves and How to Delete It

Can Scribe read every message in your Telegram group? What it saves, for how long, what it never keeps, and how members and admins can delete it.

Open Doublegram Scribe

Scribe saves only what it needs to answer about the group, and only for as long as the group's memory lasts. Every member can delete their own messages from it, and admins can delete all of it.

Can Scribe read every message in the group?

Yes, while it's an admin: Telegram sends a bot that is an admin every message in the group. That's how Scribe hears the voice messages and can answer about the chat. Of those messages it keeps only the text, for as long as the group's memory lasts, and never the secret messages. Here is exactly what it keeps, and how to delete it.

What Scribe saves

  • The text of the messages, the captions and the transcripts of voice messages, with who wrote them and when. When a message is edited, the saved text changes too.
  • Its own answers and the reminders it sends.
  • The group's notes.
  • The text of the secret messages sent from the message bar, for 7 days, so the person they're for can read them.
  • The members who have written in the group, with name and username: they're used to send secret messages and to tag people in reminders.

What Scribe never saves

  • Files: photos, videos, the audio of voice messages, documents. Only their text.
  • Secret messages sent with /pm, and the replies to them.
  • Commands, messages from other bots, and Telegram's service messages, such as someone joining.

For how long

As long as the group's memory: 7 days in free groups, and 7, 30 or 90 days with Premium. Every night, older messages are deleted. Notes stay until they're deleted.

Delete your messages: /forget

Send /forget in the group. Scribe deletes the messages it saved from you, the notes about you and your record in that group. Only you see the answer.

From then on, your new messages are saved again, like everyone else's.

Delete the whole memory

Admins: /start, then ⚙️ Settings → 🧠 Memory → 🗑 Delete the memory. All the saved messages and notes go; settings and reminders stay. To delete one note, use its 🗑 button under /memory.

When Scribe leaves the group

When Scribe is removed, the group's messages, members and notes are deleted right away, and pending reminders are cancelled. The settings and the automatic replies stay, so they're there if Scribe comes back.

Who processes the messages

To transcribe a voice message, Scribe sends the audio to a speech recognition service. To answer a question, it sends the question and the messages it needs to AI models. The AI only sees the group it's answering in, and never sees secret messages.

To count credits, Scribe records who asked and how much the answer cost, never the text of the question.

Accuracy

Transcripts and AI answers can contain mistakes, especially with background noise, names, or several people talking at once. For anything important, check the original message: /search links to it.
