Use Lookup in Your Telegram Group: the /lookup Command

Add Lookup to your Telegram group and find out who wrote a message with /lookup, even when they have no username. Only you see the answer.

In your group, admins can find out who's behind a message without leaving the chat: reply to it with /lookup and Lookup shows the card of whoever wrote it, even if they have no username.

Add Lookup to your group

  1. Open @doublegram_lookup_bot and tap ➕ Add to a group.
  2. Pick your group. Lookup joins already as an admin: it needs no permissions, only to be an admin, so it can see the messages.

If Lookup is in the group but isn't an admin, /lookup and the alerts don't work: tap 🔑 Make Lookup admin under its welcome message.

The group's Premium

/lookup and the group alerts are part of Premium. The group gets it from one admin with Doublegram Premium:

  • whoever adds Lookup to the group, or makes it admin;
  • or whoever taps 💎 Activate Premium here in /settings.

Only the admin who gave it can take it back, with 💎 Release the group's Premium.

How to use /lookup

  • Reply to a message with /lookup: you get the card of whoever wrote it.
  • Or write /lookup followed by a username, an ID or a t.me link.

The card shows the ID, username, name, type of account and Telegram's warnings, such as scam or fake accounts.

Only admins can use it, and not as an anonymous admin: write with your own account. Searches made with /lookup don't count toward your personal daily searches.

Invisible or visible to everyone

From /settings → /lookup command you choose how the card shows up:

  • Invisible (default): only the admin who asked sees the card, and the command doesn't show up in the group either.
  • Visible to everyone: the card is sent to the group as a normal message.

Settings

Admins open the settings with /settings in the group, or with ⚙️ Settings under the welcome message. There you find the /lookup command, the two alerts and, in ⚙️ More settings, 🔐 Who can change the settings: all admins or only the owner.

The flags under the welcome message change Lookup's language in the group.

Your members can also search from the group itself: 🔍 Search here starts a search from any chat, with their own searches.
