Doublegram Security: Telegram group rules, quiz and questions

People joining your Telegram group now accept the rules, pass a quiz and answer your questions. And join requests open the verification by themselves.

Share

Doublegram Security checks that whoever joins your Telegram group is a real person. From today it can also make sure they know your rules. After the check, people joining read and accept the group's rules, answer a short quiz and reply to your questions. They get in only when they're done.

In groups that approve join requests, the verification now opens by itself as soon as someone asks to join. And admins can read the answers before deciding who gets in.

Rules people accept before they write

Write your rules in one message, or forward the message where they're already written. Bold, italics and links stay as they are, up to 4,096 characters.

People joining read them right after the check, and tap Accept and continue to go on. When you use /info on a member, you see the day they accepted the rules.

Rules are free for every group.

A quiz to check they read them

Add up to 3 questions, each with one right answer to pick. Use them to check that people read the rules, or to keep out whoever doesn't belong in the group. The options come in a different order every time.

You create the quiz in private with the bot, with Telegram's own quiz, so the right answers never show up in the group. A wrong answer counts like a missed check: the person is removed or banned, as you chose in Missed check. In groups with join requests, the request is declined.

Questions only admins read

Ask up to 3 questions with a written answer, up to 300 characters each. For example: "How did you find this group?"

The page tells people that only the group's admins read their answers. The answers never show up in the group: admins read them in private with the bot, from 📋 Answers in the settings or from /info on a member. They're kept for 90 days.

If someone closes the page halfway, what they wrote is still there when they open it again.

Want to see what new members will see? Tap 👁 See the page: it opens the real page with your rules, quiz and questions. Only admins can open it, and nothing gets saved.

Join requests: the verification opens by itself

In groups that approve new members, the verification page now opens as soon as someone asks to join, right inside Telegram. There's no message to look for.

To turn it on, open the group's Administrators in Telegram, tap Doublegram Security and enable the Process join requests permission. In /settings → 🚪 Member entry → Join requests you can see if it's on.

Verify, then let admins decide

Groups with join requests now have three choices, in /settings → 🚪 Member entry → Join requests:

  • Verify, then let them in: Security checks people and lets them in;
  • Verify, then admins decide: Security checks people, then admins get a message with the rules they accepted, the quiz and their answers, and two buttons: Let in and Decline;
  • Leave to admins: Security doesn't touch the requests.

Admins get the message in private, or in the group where only they can see it. When one admin decides, the others see who did. This choice is free for every group.

Also new this week

  • Missed check: choose what happens to people who don't verify in time. They're removed and can retry right away, after 1 hour or after 1 day, or they're banned. The verification message tells them how long to wait.
  • Network Trust, your way: choose in how many other groups someone must have passed the check, and over how many days. Count the whole Doublegram network, or only the chats of your community. Trusted people skip the check, but they still accept the rules and answer the quiz and the questions.
  • Alphabets: remove messages written in the alphabets you block, like Cyrillic, Arabic or Chinese. Disguised letters also catches words that mix Latin letters with look-alike Cyrillic or Greek ones, a trick spam uses to get past word filters. With Names check, people who join with a name in a blocked alphabet are kept out before the verification.
  • One punishment per message: when a message breaks more than one rule, for example banned words and antispam, Security applies only the strictest punishment and sends one warning.
  • The verification page shows how many members the group has.
