Choose Your Interface Language in the Telegram Bot

From your first message on Telegram, @DoublegramScribeBot supports five languages. Send /start and tap a flag at the bottom of the menu — 🇬🇧 English, 🇮🇹 Italian, 🇪🇸 Spanish, 🇫🇷 French, or 🇩🇪 German.

In Telegram, @DoublegramScribeBot speaks your language in menus, status messages, and transcription replies. You pick it once with the flag buttons on the /start screen — there is no /language slash command.

Everything below works in @DoublegramScribeBot.

🇩🇪German

How to change language

  1. Open a chat with @DoublegramScribeBot (private or group).
  2. Send /start.
  3. At the bottom of the menu, tap the flag for your language.
  4. The welcome message updates and the bot confirms your choice.

You can switch anytime — send /start again and pick another flag.

Tip: After choosing 🇬🇧, menus show Settings, Credits, and other labels in English.

What the language setting affects

  • Bot interface — Buttons, settings screens, quota messages, and transcription labels use your selected language.
  • Voice transcription — Scribe passes your language to the transcription engine as a hint, which improves accuracy when you speak that language.
  • AI replies — Scribe answers in the same language as your current message. Your saved preference acts as a tiebreaker when the message is too short to detect a language clearly.

Scribe can still understand and reply in other languages if you write or speak in them — the saved language mainly steers menus and defaults.

Private chat vs groups

Private chat

Each user sets their own language. Your choice applies only to your private conversation with the bot.

Groups

Language is shared for the whole group (stored against the group's activator profile). Only group administrators can change it — tap a flag on /start in the group. Non-admins see an error if they try.

If you are an admin and the group uses mixed languages, pick the language most members use for voice notes so transcription hints stay accurate.

First-time detection

If you never picked a flag, Scribe falls back to your Telegram client's language code, then English. Sending /start and tapping a flag is the reliable way to lock in your preference.

Troubleshooting

  • Menus still in another language — Send /start and tap the correct flag again.
  • Cannot change language in a group — Only admins can change group language. Ask a group admin or change it in private chat for your personal settings.
  • AI replies in a different language — Scribe follows your message language. Write in the language you want; the flag sets defaults, not a hard limit.

Quick reference

  • Change language: /start → flag buttons
  • Languages: EN, IT, ES, FR, DE
  • No /language command
  • Groups: admins only, shared setting
