Add @doublegram_captcha_bot to Your Telegram Group

Protection starts when you add @doublegram_captcha_bot as a Telegram group admin. Open the bot, tap Add to a group, pick your supergroup, and enable Restrict members so the bot can mute and remove users.

@doublegram_captcha_bot protects a Telegram group only after it is added and promoted with the correct permissions.

Step by step

  1. Open @doublegram_captcha_bot in Telegram.
  2. Press Start or send /start.
  3. Tap ➕ Add to a group (or use this add-to-group link).
  4. Select your supergroup (recommended over basic groups).
  5. When Telegram asks for admin rights, enable at minimum:
    • Restrict members — required to mute, unmute, kick, and ban
  6. Confirm — the Telegram bot posts a ready message when promotion succeeds.

Critical: Without Restrict members, Captcha cannot mute new users or remove timed-out members. The bot will ask you to update permissions.

After a successful add

  • The group is registered in the bot's database
  • New members are handled automatically
  • You can open Admin HQ for broader Doublegram admin tools

Supergroup vs regular group

If you add @doublegram_captcha_bot to a basic Telegram group, the bot warns that functionality may be limited. Convert to a supergroup in Telegram group settings for reliable muting.

If the bot loses admin

  • The Telegram bot stops processing new members
  • The group is removed from the active protection list
  • Re-promote the bot with Restrict members to resume

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing happens on join — Check admin list: @doublegram_captcha_bot must be administrator with Restrict members.
  • Permission warning — Edit bot admin rights and turn on Restrict members.
  • Regular group warning — Upgrade the chat to supergroup.

Quick reference

  • Add: Start → Add to a group
  • Permission: Restrict members (required)
  • Best chat type: supergroup
