In Telegram groups (and private chat), you can ask @DoublegramScribeBot to notify specific members by including their name or @username when you create the reminder.
How tagging works
When the reminder fires, Scribe posts the usual notification:
🔔 Reminder — Send the invoice
Below the text, the Telegram bot adds @username tags so tagged members get a Telegram notification:
@marco @sarah
Tagged users do not need to have created the reminder — they just receive the ping in the chat.
How to include someone
Name them naturally when you create the reminder:
- Remind @marco tomorrow at 10 to send the invoice
- @DoublegramScribeBot remind Sarah to join the call at 3pm
- Set a reminder for Marco and Luca: review the budget on Monday
- Remind me to follow up with @nebula on Friday
Scribe extracts display names and @usernames from your message. Using @username is most reliable when several people share a first name.
Who can be tagged
Scribe recognizes members who have posted in the chat — it builds a name/username index from real activity. If someone never wrote in the group, Scribe may not resolve their name and will ask you to clarify or use their @username.
Only human members are indexed — bots are skipped.
Confirmation shows targets
After creating a tagged reminder, Scribe confirms with:
- 📝 Reminder text
- 🕐 Scheduled time
- 👤 For: Marco, Sarah (or usernames)
Check this line before the reminder fires — if the wrong person appears, cancel and recreate with @username.
Groups vs private chat
| Where | Tagging |
|---|---|
| Group | Tag other group members; notification appears in the group (mention bot + group premium) |
| Private chat | You can reference names in the reminder text; @tags only work for valid Telegram usernames in the notification |
In groups, tagged reminders are useful for delegating: Remind @devteam tomorrow to deploy pings the whole dev team's usernames if Scribe resolves them.
Multiple people, multiple reminders
In one message you can assign different people to different reminders:
Remind Marco tomorrow at 9 about the contract and remind @sarah on Friday about the slides
Each reminder carries its own tag list.
Updating tags on an existing reminder
Ask @DoublegramScribeBot to modify the reminder — e.g. Also tag Sarah on the invoice reminder or Remove Marco from tomorrow's reminder. See Edit or Delete Reminders on Telegram.
Troubleshooting
- Wrong person tagged — Ambiguous first name; use @username next time
- No tag in notification — Person may lack a username; Scribe shows names in confirmation but only @usernames appear as clickable tags
- Scribe can't find the person — They may never have posted in the chat; ask them to send a message first, or use exact @username
Quick reference
- Include name or @username when creating
- Tags appear in 🔔 notification
- @username = most reliable
- Member must have posted in chat for name matching
