What Are Automatic Replies in Telegram Groups?

Group admins on Telegram can set up keyword-triggered replies — FAQ links, rules, welcome messages, or media — without building a separate bot. Add @DoublegramScribeBot to your group, then admins use /reply to bind a word to any message.

Automatic replies in Telegram let group admins save a message once and have @DoublegramScribeBot send it whenever someone types a specific keyword. Think of it as a FAQ button implemented with a single word — no mention, no slash command for members, just type the word.

Example: admin links the word rules to your community guidelines. Any member who sends exactly rules gets the full rules message as a reply from @DoublegramScribeBot.

How it works (member view)

  1. A member sends a single word in the group — e.g. pricing
  2. Scribe detects the keyword (case-insensitive)
  3. Scribe replies with the saved content — text, image, video, or other media
  4. No @mention needed — the trigger alone is enough

The reply appears as a reply to the member's message in the same topic thread (if forum topics are enabled).

How it works (admin setup)

Only group administrators configure automatic replies using:

  • /reply keyword — create or update (reply to the message you want to save)
  • /unreply keyword — remove an existing trigger

Trigger rules

  • Exact match — the entire message must be the keyword (after trimming spaces)
  • Case-insensitiveRules, RULES, and rules all match
  • No slash commands — keywords cannot start with /
  • Per group — each group has its own keyword list
