Automatic Topic Titles in Private Telegram Chat

Keep private forum topics organized in Telegram without typing titles yourself. When you send the first voice note in a new topic to @DoublegramScribeBot, the bot transcribes it and can rename the topic based on what you said.

If your private Telegram chat with @DoublegramScribeBot uses Telegram's Topics (forum mode), the bot can label new topics automatically. After your first voice message in a fresh topic, it generates a short contextual title from the transcription and renames the topic for you.

This only works in private chat with @DoublegramScribeBot — not in groups.

Prerequisites

  • Forum topics enabled in your private chat with Scribe (Telegram's Topics feature)
  • Active subscription and linked Doublegram account (same as other private features)
  • A new topic where you have not sent a processed message yet
  • Your first message in that topic should be a voice note (triggers title generation after transcription)

How automatic titles work

  1. Create a new topic in your private chat with Scribe.
  2. Send a voice message inside that topic — describe what the topic is about.
  3. Scribe transcribes with streaming updates (🎙️ prefix).
  4. When transcription completes, Scribe generates a title from the spoken content.
  5. The topic name in Telegram updates to that title — often within a few seconds.

Example: you create a topic called Topic 1, send a voice note saying Ideas for the Q3 marketing campaign and social ads, and the topic renames to something like Q3 marketing campaign ideas.

One shot per topic: Title auto-generation runs only for the first processed message in a topic. Later voice notes transcribe normally without changing the title.

Manual title updates

You can also rename a topic anytime by asking Scribe in plain language — in the topic thread:

  • Update the title to Client follow-ups
  • Change topic name to Vacation planning

Scribe understands an update topic title intent and renames the current topic. If you are not inside a topic, Scribe explains that the command only works in a topic thread.

What does not trigger auto-titles

  • Text-only first message — Auto-title runs after the first voice message completes transcription
  • Groups — Topic title generation is private-chat only
  • Second or later messages in the same topic — title already set
  • Main chat (no topic) — no topic to rename

If the title does not update

  • Topic already had a message — Auto-title only fires once per topic on the first voice note
  • Transcription failed or empty — No text to derive a title from; try a clearer voice note
  • Title generation timed out — Transcription still works; rename manually via chat or Telegram's topic settings
  • Topics not enabled — Enable forum topics in the chat settings first
