Normally @doublegram_captcha_bot runs on new joins in Telegram groups. The /captcha command lets admins manually trigger verification on someone already in the group — useful after a raid, suspicious posting, or account compromise.
How to use /captcha
- In the group, find a message from the target user.
- Reply to that message.
- Type
/captchaand send. - Captcha deletes your command message.
- Target user is muted and receives the standard Verify Captcha welcome flow from @doublegram_captcha_bot.
Requirements
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Who can run it | Group administrators or creator |
| Reply required | Must reply to the user's message — bare /captcha is rejected |
| Target bots | Not allowed |
| Target admins | Not allowed — cannot captcha administrators |
| Chat type | Groups and supergroups only |
Trusted users
If the target qualifies for Cross-Group Trust, they may be auto-verified without mute — same as on join. Disable trust or raise thresholds if you need forced captcha for everyone.
Failure cases
- Could not mute user — Bot lacks Restrict members or user has higher rank
- Not admin — Only administrators can run the command
- No reply — Command is deleted with instructions to reply
Quick reference
- Usage: reply +
/captcha - Effect: mute + Verify Captcha button
- Blocks: bots, admins
- Admins only
