Create an Automatic Reply with /reply on Telegram

Group admins on Telegram bind a keyword to any message in two steps: reply to the content you want to save, then send /reply keyword. Members who type that word alone get the saved reply from @DoublegramScribeBot.

The /reply command in Telegram links a single-word keyword to a message you choose. Only group administrators can use it, and only in Telegram groups where @DoublegramScribeBot is present.

Step-by-step

  1. In your Telegram group, find or post the message you want to save — text, photo, video, voice note, document, etc.
  2. Reply to that message (swipe or tap Reply).
  3. In your reply, type: /reply keyword — replace keyword with one word, no spaces.
    Example: /reply rules
  4. Scribe confirms: ✅ Custom reply created! Whenever someone writes "rules" (alone), the bot will respond automatically.

Keyword rules

  • One word — /reply faq ✅ — /reply show faq ❌
  • Lowercase stored — Scribe normalizes to lowercase; members can type any case
  • Letters and numbers — e.g. faq, price2024, help2
  • Replacing — Running /reply rules again updates the saved content for that keyword

What members see after setup

When any member sends exactly rules (just that word), Scribe automatically posts the saved message as a reply. No mention, no command — the keyword alone triggers it.

Forum topics

Run /reply inside a topic thread if you want context — triggers work group-wide, but the automatic reply appears in the same topic where the member typed the keyword.
