On the free plan in Telegram, @doublegram_lookup_bot tracks how many searches you have used today and tells you how many remain. Subscribers do not see a counter — lookups are unlimited.
This guide explains where the counter appears and when it resets.
Where you see the counter
Typed searches (@username, link, ID)
When you send a recognizable username, t.me link, or numeric ID, Lookup replies with an analyzing message before the result:
🔍 Analyzing @username…
Free lookups remaining today: 3/5
The number on the right is how many lookups you still have after this search (the quota is consumed when Lookup starts processing).
Forwarded messages
When you forward a message, Lookup sends a separate line after handling the forward:
Free lookups remaining today: 2/5
Then you see the lookup result card for the forwarded user or channel.
My Data screen
/start → My Data shows your plan, not the live counter:
- Free plan · 5 lookups/day — you are on the daily quota
- Subscriber · Unlimited lookups — no counter needed
Subscribers: You will not see Free lookups remaining lines — only the analyzing emoji line without a quota.
When the counter resets
Free lookups reset at midnight UTC every day.
- If you are in Rome (UTC+1), reset is at 01:00 local time
- If you are in New York (UTC-5), reset is at 19:00 (7 PM) local time the previous calendar day
- If you are in Tokyo (UTC+9), reset is at 09:00 local time
After reset, you get a fresh 5 lookups for the new UTC date.
When you have zero left
If you try another lookup after using all 5, Lookup does not analyze the input. Instead you see:
🔒 Daily free lookups finished — You used all 5 free searches available today.
Subscribe at doublegram.com/pricing for unlimited access, or wait until midnight UTC.
What does not use the counter
/start, My Data, How it works, Back to Menu- Plain text with no username, link, or ID (Lookup may show your own sender info + tip)
- Non-text messages without a forward (Lookup asks you to send text or forward a message)
Troubleshooting
- Counter seems wrong — It is per Doublegram account and UTC day. Another Telegram account linked to a different Doublegram profile has its own counter.
- Quota unavailable — Lookup could not update Redis. Retry shortly; your last lookup may not have been counted if the error appeared before processing.
- Still capped after subscribing — Open My Data; status should show Subscriber. If not, subscription may be on a different Doublegram profile than the one linked to this Telegram.
Quick reference
- Free limit: 5 lookups per UTC day
- Reset: midnight UTC
- Counter: analyzing message (typed) or follow-up (forward)
- Plan line:
/start→ My Data
